Steps and ideas to a good family halloween party?!?
its my first time hosting a halloween party, and i need steps and ideas to make it fun and good. Like decorations, costumes, games etc. Please help me!! the party isd november 1st. Links to party supplies, halloween stores, or anywhere were we can shop for supplies will help. And what kind of music and games should we hvae? And food! My cousins eat so much (they aren't fat, i just have over 20 cousins, on one side, and the other side is coming too?) so we need lots of food, and my house is small, so we are bringing it outside, and in the basement (haunted basement downstairs, 8 and over) so i need lots of help!
Well for me I'm having a family halloween party too. I have a friend that's having an adult party and she's already burned her music. I'm getting copies of her music (you can commission a family member that's coming to make yo some CDs). I'm making cupcakes with plastic spiders on them, rice crispy treats with halloween color MMs on top, lots of candy, lots of little halloween toys (plastic eye balls, spiders, wax lips). You can make some sugar cookies with halloween cookie cutters and have an area set up where the kids can decorate their own cookies.
A haunted house in the basement seems like a lot of work. Just get some cheap decorations and put them around the house. I'm sure you can find some cute stuff anywhere. Start with the dollar store. You have a lot of people to make food for, so save your money for that.
Someone gave me the idea that everyone pitch in $1 and give that money away as a prize for best costume. You can break it up into catagories or adult costume and best kids costume.

When the month of Halloween rolls around you can go to Target, Dollar Store, Walmart, Rite Aid, etc and get music there. Also I heard most Walmart’s are getting there stock of Halloween stuff now. ALSO I heard Party City or Party Fair has stock of halloween

I make my Halloween party a pot luck with a gory theme. I have had people bring spinach dip in a skull bowl, vampire cupcakes with bloody center and teeth marks on the top, and even an eyeball cake. So I would totally suggest doing it that way. Makes it more affordable on your part. For some spooky foods you can do Frankenstein Fingers (pickles), Scabs and toenail dip (chips and onion dip) and our ever favorite drink Faery Fizzy Tears (Sprite). I put up little signs around the food to add a little ambiance.
For deco ideas I hit up http://www.marthastewart.com She has a ton of ideas and most can be modified.
For music I downloaded lots of themed music (haunted piano songs and the like) and then modern music with a scary twist:
Devil with a Blue Dress
Bark at the Moon
Don’t Fear the Reaper
Thriller (no party is complete without Thriller!)
Werewolf of London
