Start with describing Halloween night… the sounds, sight, smells, etc. Capture the audience and then lead in by asking a question about how that all started.

Startling facts are the easiest. Just say something like "Every year ____number___ kids get dressed up, knock on doors, and beg for candy. Have you ever wondered where this strange tradition originated? Back in 1800….." Except fill it in with real facts.

i don’t have the quote for you but i’d take something from Charlie Brown’s the great pumpkin or whatever it’s called, since it’s basically one of the most popular / beloved Halloween stories at present time. Then you could work into Historical myths about halloween. Just a suggestion.
