I sent cookies in to my son’s school for a Halloween party and the teacher never gave them to the kids . . .?
I spent a good bit of my free time last week baking and decorating special cut-out cookies and fudge for my son's school party (and they were cute if I do say so! -I always enjoyed getting stuff like that when I was a child) and I put them in treat bags with candy and tied them up with ribbons and sent them in -the problem is: the teacher never gave them to the kids! She also sent a request for party supplies home earlier and I sent in some beautifully printed paper plates, but I noticed that the kids were eating from white styrofoam plates at the party!!! I previously sent in art supplies that were requested also that were apparently never used. Since I put so much time into making the cookies, I am pretty upset about the cookies not being given to the kids, especially since I told my son that he would have to wait to get one of the spiderweb cookies that I made until he got his bag at the party (since the recipe only made "just" enough) -and he never got that cookie that he was waiting all week for. How should I handle this? It is working on my nerves. I left the teacher a message asking why the cookies were not given to the children and she has not called me back. I never did anything to her. I don't understand why a teacher would do this. They also ask for .50 a day for milk for the kids (it's preschool), yet the parents also send in a snack and drink each day when it is show and tell day for their child (every day it is show and tell for someone). I am beginning to think the teachers take the stuff home to use for themselves.
Regarding them being homemade, that can't be it, since my son brought home a homemade brownie in his bag that another parent apparently made. This has me feeling horrible. I feel like I don't want to send anything else in to school at all, but that could hurt my son. I don't know what to do.
Well I do kind of feel like this was personal because they did ask for treats to be sent in, and like I said, there was a homemade-looking brownie sent home with the kids. I actually sent a note in the day before alerting the teacher that I would be sending in the cookies, etc. so that she would even know to be on the lookout for them and that's another reason I am so at a loss. I don't understand. I left a mssg on her cell phone and still no reply. I could call again on Monday -I'm just not sure what I should say or if I should even call again or just ignore future requests to send stuff in, or send in a letter. I am so stressed out about this that it is completely ruining my weekend. It probably shouldn't be but it is and I don't know what to do. Thank you all for your advice.
Either:
A) They didn't realize your son had them.
B) They forgot to hand them out.
C) They are food allergies that other children have in the classroom so they are afraid to give them out and harm another child.
D) New school policies enforcing not eating outside food (very common these days).
Don't take it too hard. If the teacher didn't send them back home with your son, then that could be a problem. Or possibly maybe the children collectively brought in too many treats so they're saving some for another day.
Don't think too much into this, if you don't want to send in treats anymore then don't. It is not required.

Speak to the head if the teacher won’t talk. Put in an informal complaint that she is wasting your time and money

Aww, that’s a shame. It may sound stupid, but I know some schools here in England won’t give homemade food to the kids because of health and safety standards – after all they can’t check what has been put in them and they are responsible for their well being. I know it’s a bit over the top, but that may explain it .

Ask them if they’re allowed outside foods to be brought in. Some schools don’t allow that. They’re taking precautions because some foods may contain peanuts.

Wow, I would be upset too. Something is definitely not right with this. Why wouldn’t you give the kids everything available to them? I have never heard of such a thing. Depending on how you contacted her, she might not get the message until Monday. If you have time maybe you can speak with her on Mon to see what the problem is and ask that your cookies and candy be distributed to the children. If she does not have them, then you know she either threw them away, gave them away, or took them home. None of these options are acceptable and if so, I would speak with the principal and head of the school about this.

My advice…simply ask the teacher her reasons for this action. There may have been a policy change regarding homemade items from home such as what the public schools operate by.
I hope you find the answer you seek and peace in your heart.
